You are unique my child;
a wonderful addition to life,
for there is no-one else like you.
A Loving Circle
A name-giving ceremony provides families with
a wonderful opportunity to officially welcome their child
into
a loving circle of family and friends, and to bestow
his or her chosen names. It’s an excellent occasion for the expression
of hope and joy for the future life of a special child.
The fact that many
people don’t wish to have their child christened or baptised doesn’t
mean they don’t want some kind of meaningful ceremony that celebrates
the child’s arrival. A ceremony to give a child a name is a particularly
important part of receiving them into the family; and reflects the loving
process undertaken in choosing that name. |
By participating in a naming ceremony family relationships are
often bonded more deeply, as the parents, other children, grandparents
and godparents become more aware of their special responsibilities.
Yours to Choose
It is possible to include various rituals such as the lighting
of candles, a sprinkling of magic dust, and the naming of the
child with a sprinkling of rose petals or drops of water. God-parents,
guardians or mentors may also be appointed as part of the ceremony.
Some children are named shortly after birth, but the first birthday
is a popular time for others. Sometimes, other children in the
family will be named at the same time if they were not given such
a ceremony when younger.
A name-giving ceremony is an occasion when a new life is celebrated
and welcomed into the world. It is a wonderful opportunity to express
the joy, hope, acceptance and happiness that a new life brings.
Our Fee
Our standard fee for a Naming Ceremony is $220.00, including
a $100.00 deposit. This fee includes the use of our state-of-the-art
public address system if required, and a complete printed copy
of the ceremony.
Travel to venues further than 25 kilometres from the Hobart G.P.O.
will attract a surcharge of 60¢ per kilometre. When the location
of the venue necessitates overnight accommodation for the celebrant
special package-prices apply, which are available on request.
There are no legal requirements for a name-giving ceremony,
so no birth certificate is required.
